Carter's Story

Carter is an absolutely stunning purebred Mini Australian Shepherd! He is 3 years old and weighs 35 lbs.

Carter is great in his crate, where he takes his daily naps. This gives him the opportunity to learn that he doesn't need to follow his people around every second of the day. He is also responding beautifully to the PLACE command—lay down and stay while his people get things done.

Carter is good with other dogs! He is playful, affectionate, energetic and incredibly smart. He can also be a little bossy, which is why he needs a home with someone who understands the importance of leadership and structure. He has already had some training and is continuing to make great progress with his foster mom.

Carter needs an owner who will:
Provide daily structured walks
Continue his training and boundaries
Give him regular crate rest and downtime
Take him on adventures, outings, hikes and trails
Understand that free play in a backyard alone is not enough for this breed
A Mini Aussie like Carter wants a job, a routine and a life where he gets to experience the world with his person. Give him the structure he needs and you're going to have one incredibly amazing companion.

Carter is NOT a good fit for a home with children. He can become bossy and has a tendency to nip when he gets pushy. This behavior is being actively worked on, but we want to place him in a home where everyone understands his needs and can continue setting him up for success.

Carter is smart. He is affectionate. He is playful. He is eager to learn. And he has SO much potential.

We are looking for a confident, active owner who understands dogs and is willing to continue his training. Someone who wants a dog to take on adventures, explore trails, go for structured walks and truly be part of their everyday life.
Carter deserves the right home—not just any home. And when we find it, we have no doubt this boy is going to absolutely shine.
