Yes, as long as they're taught to respect the dog’s belongings and boundaries.
• HOUSEBROKEN? Not 100% yet. As rescues that lived on the street or tile/outdoor surfaces, they'll need some time to adjust. Most of our dogs adapt within 1-2 weeks of consistent training.

Carmela was found in the street, in heat, completely alone and terrified. When she arrived in foster she was so frightened — particularly of men — that getting close to her felt like a delicate negotiation. Every interaction had to be slow, soft, and on her terms.

She set the pace, and everyone respected it. Slowly, the defensiveness melted. "She lets herself be hugged now," her foster Susana says. "She gives kisses. Every day she's trusting a little more." It's the kind of progress that's quiet but profound — a dog deciding, one small moment at a time, that people might be worth the risk.

These days Carmela has a favorite move: rolling onto her back and waiting for a belly rub with an expression of complete and utter contentment. She plays with the other dogs, settles easily into the rhythm of the house, and carries herself with a sweet calm that makes it hard to picture the frightened dog she was just weeks ago.

Oh, and those teeth! Carmela has a slight overbite that gives her a permanent little smirk — like she's always just about to say something witty. But don't let it fool you - Carmela is the gentlest, sweetest dog and all she has for you is love (after all, this is a dog who spends her afternoons rolled onto her back waiting for belly rubs).

She'd do best in a gentle home — patient people, no rough handling, no loud chaos. Someone who understands that a dog like Carmela doesn't need to be pushed, just given space and warmth until she fully arrives.

She's almost there. Will you be the home she gets there in?

*************************

📝 Ready to apply?
