Meet Candi

"Candi is just as sweet as her name. I do not understand how anyone could let this sweet girl go. She is really the ideal house dog. She just wants to be where you are, wherever that is. Her early life wasn't easy so she is a bit shy at times with new things but quickly realizes it will be okay and new things are fun. She is the sweetest cuddle bug who definitely knows her Pyr Paw works magic when she wants love. She wants nothing more than her own family to take care of and spend all her time with.

Candi would like a home with either people or other pets home with her most of the time. She likes to play and enjoys her chew bones but is a big couch potato if you'd like. She would fit in nicely with almost any family that's home or just with her most of the time. She doesn't like being alone."

Watch over the livestock. Don't wander off. Keep an eye on everything. Alert us if predators are around. No, you cannot come inside. No, don't chase the livestock. Be a good girl and do what you were bred to do. I have heard all of these things and more in my past life. The thing about being a Great Pyrenees mix is people think that you automatically will adjust to watching over the livestock and/or poultry with no training or guidance. And maybe for some...that is true. But for others...for dogs like me...that is not the life we want. The life we are cut out for. Watching over the livestock was not what I wanted. I wanted to be with my people. I wanted to be inside. I wanted an adoring family, not a few pets here and there. I wanted so much more. I wasn't happy though and was rebelling against my job whenever I could.

My owner finally realized that I am not meant to be with livestock. I was so hoping when that happened they would let me be inside with them, but that isn't what happened. They ended up surrendering me to the animal shelter. I thought being an LGD was out of my expertise...but being in the shelter...I was TERRIFIED. There were soo many dogs all barking and pleading for their second chance. It was heartbreaking, and all a little too much. I ended up starting to retreat into myself and was shy with everyone. The shelter was really full and no one was showing interest in me due to being shy and I ended up in the euthanasia list. I was actually only a few hours from losing my life when I had a foster family step up for me! Just like that I went from death's door to a whole new chance at life!

My name is Candi and I am a 1-2-year-old, 60lb female Great Pyrenees mix. I am a really cute petite girl with the most beautiful badger face and a gorgeous white coat. I absolutely love cuddling and have become quite the couch potato in my foster home. I may have not been cut out for the life of and LGD, but the life of an indoor dog suits me amazingly and I am soaking up all the attention and lovings that I get! I just love...LOVE!

I am good with other dogs but am also indifferent to them. I may sometimes lightly play with them and other times ignore them. I do wonderfully with cats and can often be found cuddling with them. I am very gentle with everyone I meet...including kids and would probably do well with kids of all ages. I have good manners when meeting new people and don't jump on them. I can be a bit shy though, but once I realize you just want to give me pets will quickly become your cuddle buddy! I am also shy when meeting new dogs, but it doesn't take me very long to warm up to them either.

I am happiest being wherever my people are. I think the homebody life calls to me the most, but I also think I would enjoy going places with my new family from time to time. I like going on car rides and enjoy looking out the window and watching everything pass us by. I do take some time to adjust to new environments so if my new family wanted to take me places with them they would need to give me some time to adjust and start to feel secure. I do enjoy going on walks and feel like I would also enjoy hiking.

I am not interested in playing fetch but do enjoy chewing bones. I have not had the chance to play in any water yet but can say that I wasn't a fan of bathtime. My energy level is right in the middle. I could snooze all day long but would be up for a long walk if you want to go. Other times, I will engage in play with the other dogs. As long as my family is involved, I am up for just about anything.

I am not a big barker but have been known to talk at times. I am potty and kennel trained. However, I have excellent house manners and kenneling me is not necessary since I spend my day snoozing when my family is away. I have not been a big chewer or gotten into anything I shouldn't.

If you do feel like I am the girl for you, could you do me a favor and make sure that I am your FUREVER girl? I really don't want to have to be passed around down the road yet again because I was only your UNTIL dog....

Now that I got that out of the way, if you still feel like we are meant to be...you can apply to adopt me at
https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Once your application comes in, it will be sent to my foster family. This is to help ensure that not only am I a good fit for you but that you are also a good fit for me! ?

I am currently being fostered in Midwest, OK. If you have fallen in love with me and are out of state, how about a road trip? I am not interested in being sent on a long transport by myself, so the only way I am relocating to another state is if we are in that car together! ?

My adoption fee is $250.
That will include my DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordetella. I will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
