Calvin's Story
Calvin - Westie/Dachshund Mix - Male - 1.5 yrs - www.twyla.org

If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org

Meet Calvin! He was found after being dumped in the Humble area off the Beltway and it took his trappers an entire week to earn his trust enough for them to put a leash around him. As soon as they had him though, he decided he was right where he needed to be. He has bonded very strongly with his foster family and only takes a few minutes (and a few treats) to warm up to anyone new.

This Westie / Dachshund mix is a wild child! While he’s as sweet as can be, he drives his foster mom and siblings a little bit crazy with his never ending energy. He just wants to PLAY, PLAY, PLAY. He’s currently working on how to settle when needed, but it’s been slow progress. Crate training has been a great tool for him as he does relax after whining for a few minutes.

While Calvin can be an only dog, it would require his family to provide a lot of mental and physical exercise for him (a tired dog is a good dog after all), but he would also love a playmate of similar size or bigger. We wouldn’t recommend a playmate smaller than him because he’s very pushy and he struggles talking no for an answer. He doesn’t mean to be rude, but it absolutely comes off that way to the other dogs sometimes.

Calvin’s potty training is going really well, he rides great in a car, and is super affectionate and loyal to his people. He would do best with an experienced handler who can help him with his general manners.

***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***
