🐾 BUDDY came to us as a surrender and only just turned a year old. He's some kind of Yorkie mix, who we got vetted and neutered and up to date, and is now with one of our fosters waiting for his home. He likes people and is good with other dogs, but was NOT good with the cats in his first foster home, so we had to move him. (Bizarrely, while there he went after their one cat with a vengeance and aggressively, and the cat stayed on a different level of the home for months... but when she took in a stray cat and had the cat in a small crate for a few days before getting shots, etc, Buddy got to know that cat through the crate and is now best buds with that cat and not a single sign of aggression and naps with this other cat. So cats are a definite... maybe? Either strongly YES or strongly no, but we're not sure of his criteria.<br/><br/>Buddy loves laps and the couch but he does NOT like a crate and we feel he'd be too loud and barky in an apartment - but he'd love a lap of his very own to snuggle on and a person to keep an eye on. He can be a mouthy player but has not bitten.<br/><br/>From his amazing foster, "...Buddy is super friendly, happy and loves most other dogs. He loves to play always morning noon, and night. He makes his own fun and plays also by himself. He loves to run, go on walks, loves the cars but sometimes has anxiety at times. It may take a little while but it will dissipate. Mostly I take him quiet non distractable places for him to walk. If it’s too busy too many people he doesn't do well. I take him to schools after hours quiet parks. He is fully potty trained and he has good manners. He gets super excited when he sees his leash but he will sit and listen & wait. Buddy has made remarkable progress and I am super proud of his accomplishments."<br/><br/>👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available.<br/><br/>📌 IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience.<br/><br/>🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)
