Buddy - AVAILABLE TO FOSTER OR ADOPT's Story

Buddy may just be the perfect name for this sweet little guy, because more than anything, he wants to be someone’s best buddy.

Buddy is an adorable little Beagle/Rottweiler(?) mix, about 3 years old. He’s calm and easygoing most of the time, but when he realizes it’s his turn for a walk, that little spark of excitement comes out! He loves his strolls, but what Buddy really enjoys most is simply being with his people. Buddy is fine with other dogs, but he’s definitely a people-oriented pup who quickly becomes attached to the humans who show him love. It obvious that that kindness was lacking in his previous world.

Buddy had clearly been neglected and was emaciated when he arrived at Red Barn. He is still thin, but has gained weight and currently weighs just under 30 pounds. Initially he would only eat when we sat with him and held his food bowl, but he has a healthy appetite now and is blossoming. Hopefully he is on his way to a healthy weight now that his life is on a better path!

Buddy enjoys his strolls and any attention. His exercise requirements are low though, and based on his kennel cleanliness we think he may be housetrained. He will probably be an easy pet and definitely a wonderful companion! Buddy is already vaccinated and neutered, but he did test positive for heartworms. He has already started treatment and Red Barn Rescue will be covering that cost.

Because of his gentle nature and solicitous personality, Buddy is a favorite at the rescue. Apply at redbarnrescue.com meet Buddy! One look in his soul- searching eyes and you will fall in love!

PS - Buddy would LOVE a foster home while he is waiting for his new family to find him! Apply to foster today!

Red Barn Rescue's Adoption Policy
All dogs in our care are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated (including Rabies when age-appropriate), heartworm tested, and kept on heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Many dogs also receive dental care, heartworm treatment, or other medical procedures as needed. Prospective adopters must complete an adoption application and receive approval before meeting a dog. Applicants must list all current pets, and those pets must be spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention. A home visit may be required as part of our approval process. Once approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet with your family, including current dogs. Adopters are responsible for ongoing veterinary care, keeping their pets up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and maintaining a safe, responsible home. If you are looking for a specific type or breed, you may submit an application and note your preferences for future consideration. Our adoption fee reflects the medical care and resources invested in preparing each dog for a healthy start. If an adopter can no longer care for their dog, the dog must be returned to Red Barn Rescue as stated in our contract.
