Bubba/Bruce's Story

Bubba/Bruce was found as a stray on the streets on NYC back in August. He was brought the the NYCACC - the NYC Animal Care Centers - the NYC Municipal shelter.

He was terrified and frozen in fear. We love our mastiffs and wanted to save his life. The only way we could do that if a foster was found. Luckily we did. A wonderful woman opened her heart and her home and saved his life.

He is now available for adoption. These are Bubba/Bruce's STATS!

Bubba/Bruce

Approximate age: 2 years
Approximate weight: 95lbs
Breed: Cane Corso Mix
Spayed or Neutered: Yes, neutered
Good with:
Kids? 13 and up due to size and
reactivity
Strangers? Reactive initially but will
warm up with proper introduction
Other dogs? No
Cats? No
On leash? Walks well as long as there are no distractions. Is reactive upon
seeing people, wildlife or other dogs. Will continue on walk once distraction is
out of sight.
Housetrained? Yes
Crate trained? Yes (cries initially but will
settle down)

Preferred forever home for your foster?
- A home with a large yard for him to run around and play. Preferably a home where he is not left alone for long periods of time as he does have separation anxiety. He wants to be with you at all times (yes, even if you’re going to the bathroom!) so if you’re looking for a big goofy pup to be by your side Bruce
is your guy!

Interesting quirks/behaviors?
- Bruce is not a fan of vacuum cleaners or lawn mowers. He will try to
bite them when in use.

Issues to work on:
- Bruce has separation anxiety and will cry if you leave the room without
him. He needs a home with a patient owner who can help him with this. He can become destructive when bored and unattended. He loves his extra durable
Kong toy filled with peanut butter and large meat bones from the butcher to
help keep him occupied.

Personality:
- Bruce is a total love bug once he gets to know you. He loves giving kisses
and getting butt scratches. He’s a giant goofball and full of personality. He is
treat motivated and eager to learn. Bruce forms strong bonds quickly and
once he gets to know you he never wants to leave your side.

Activity Level:
- Bruce loves long walks and exploring. He also doesn’t mind the rain. He likes tug-of-war and his favorite toy is his herding ball - you would think he
was a border collie! Bruce can get zoomies from time to time. He rides
great in the car.

Training and behavior:
- Bruce needs a patient home and someone who can continue his training.
He can be jumpy when excited. He walks well on leash but will pull/jump when
seeing wildlife/other dogs. If Bruce picks up something he’s not supposed to have
he drops it immediately when corrected. You can take food and toys from him
with no issues.

Dog compatibility:
- Unfortunately Bruce did not do well meeting other dogs. He pulled,
barked, and was mouthy. Multiple meet and greets would absolutely be
necessary if he was to go to a home with another dog.

He is UTD on all vaccinations, microchipped and neutered.
