Meet Bruiser

Bruiser is about 5 years old and 13 pounds and best guess on his breed mix is dachshund/chihuahua mix. Once he loves and trusts you, he’s a sweet boy who loves to snuggle and give kisses. But he's very reluctant to trust new people - we don't know his history but suspect he was not treated well, causing him not to trust, He does not make a good first impression but if you will just give him a few minutes, he warms up nicely and wants to be your best friend. Bruiser likes to sleep under the covers with his person and he’ll dig at the covers until he makes his way underneath! He's a cuddler! He can be bossy with other dogs but lives with several in his foster home - he just sometimes needs to be reminded he’s not the boss so it's important to find the right doggy matches for him. He barked at the cats at first and then was fine and he was fine when he met new cats - he basically acted like he didn't even notice them, even when they sniffed his rear end. He can be grouchy when he’s nervous - for example: he did not show his best self at the vet office. Because of his occasional grouchiness and his issues when first meeting new people, we are saying no children for Bruiser. Bruiser is looking for someone who will give him a chance, will give him a reason to trust, and who will not fail him like he has been failed in the past. He needs someone patient, who will give him the time he needs to get comfortable. Bruiser can’t wait to find that person. Once he finds that person, he is very loving and a great dog. If you are interested in adopting from Recycled Doggies, please complete an adoption application through our website: www.recycleddoggies.org. THAT IS THE FIRST STEP IN OUR PROCESS. Please do not just show up at an adoption event and expect to adopt a dog that day - we need time to review your application ahead of time, which is why we ask that you submit your application ahead of time so you don't miss out on the dog you are hoping to adopt while you wait for your application to be reviewed. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, dewormed, heartworm tested (if over 9 months of age), and microchipped. We do not adopt outside our area, which we define as two hours drive time from downtown Cincinnati (zip code 45202 - use Google Maps to determine if you are within our area) NO EXCEPTIONS. This is for the safety of our dogs, so that in case an adoption does not work out, we can be sure that we can quickly get our dog back. We do not have a shelter or facility - all of our dogs live in volunteer foster homes. In order to not infringe on any more of the time of our foster families, we introduce our dogs to potential adopters at our weekend adoption events posted on our website - please do not request to meet the dog outside of an adoption event as we are unable to grant the request. If you have additional questions, please email recycleddoggies@gmail.com.
