Meet Brenin

ACDRA Brenin is a delightful boy who is about 15 months old. He grew up with his 4 littermates in a pen in a backyard down south, but at 10 months of age they were turned into a shelter and then found their way to foster care!

Brenin is an absolute sweetheart and is just looking for a patient person to connect with. He craves affection and attention, is food motivated and extremely smart! His littermate was DNA tested and came back as approximately one third husky, one third cattle dog, and the remaining third a little bit of many things! All we can tell you is they are absolute sweethearts! Brenin has so much to offer the family who can offer him patience and understanding while he gets his bearings and learns to navigate the whole world.

When he first entered foster care he would submissively urinate any time he felt insecure, however, over time this has sigificantly improved! We would expect a slight regression with a move to a new home but with kindness and understanding we feel he will grow out of this as his confidence grows.

Brenin is about 40 pounds. He recently went on an outing to a local Agway(farm store) and had a lot of fun exploring everything - he was very brave and it was an excellent outing! We were so impressed with how well he did! He enjoys toys - mostly plays with them with the other dogs but is learning to play fetch! He also *loves* belly rubs!

Brenin is great with other dogs, should do ok with dog savvy cats, and is probably not the best fit for a family with children simply due to his lack of socialization, although he has never shown an ounce of aggression, he can be overwhelmed by a lot of activity. He is crate trained (although may submissively pee when being let out) and housetrained, rides quietly crated in the car, and is current on vaccines and preventatives.

Brenin will do best in a home with confident canine sibling - he really seems to look to the other dogs for support when he is feeling unsure, so we don't think he is the best candidate to be an only dog.

Brenin is being fostered in NY state, about 30 minutes south of Albany, NY.
