MUST LIVE IN ROCHESTER, NY AREA TO ADOPT. Requires a physically fenced in yard for her to safely run and play in.

Brandi is a seven month old Terrier/Aussie mix and a perfect 23 lbs.
She requires a home with another young dog of similar high energy (1-4 years of age) for companionship and for her to feel safe as well as utilize her abundance of energy and playfulness.
Brandi is a puppy mill pup - this means - the outside world is all new, sometimes exciting, but mostly a scary experience. Every sound, movement & thing is new & a bit startling. You are new & it will take her time to get to know you. The door opening & closing, the toaster popping up, every day noises for instance are all things she has had to learn are ok. Throwing a toy in her direction used to scare her. (She does better when it’s tossed away from her for instance.) She is going to need lots of love, patience and support. This means introducing her to all things new slowly & giving her space & understanding. Know that she isn’t going to cuddle with you day one, but the good news is she really really wants to & is actually super cuddly & full of puppy kisses once she knows and trusts you. Although she is skittish, she is not aggressive in any way. She has made great progress in learning to trust, but that has to be earned daily, repeat, daily for anyone new in her world. But WOW what a breakthrough we’ve had after a few short weeks! Once she knows her person she will have a whole new comfort level & willingly come to you & let you approach her as well. She is now running and jumping up on her foster mamma in greeting!! This is huge! It is so rewarding to watch her gain confidence, but it has required taking baby steps. Brandi will follow you everywhere but is very nervous when you are up and moving around. If you’re sitting she will sneak in next to you to cuddle, but when you stand up again she may dart away. She LOVES her toys and blankets!! Chew toys, squeaky toys, stuffy toys....she loves them all!! She is learning that her pen is a safe and positive experience, but getting her to go in it is still a work in progress. Although now she will put herself to bed at night voluntarily which is another milestone! And once there she does very well & sleeps through the night. In the last few days she willingly goes in her own when requested of her. She loves her foster doggo friends and is having a ball bounding around with them. They are her comfort zone and a must have in her life. Is your dog looking for a new best friend?! Looking to add to your pack?! Brandi would love to join!
Note: She has unlimited energy and requires maximum running space to use all that puppy energy daily. She is an Aussie after all. You are encouraged to read up on the breed. Other dog companions are a must! They are her comfort zone. She will benefit from consistency, training and repetition to build her confidence.
Brandi is a sweet, loving girl who is just learning what love and life in the outside world can be like & so deserving of a special home to bring her a lifetime of love and joy. Might it be yours?

We are in Rochester, NY, we adopt to people who live in the Rochester area. We do not ship our dogs and require home visits. Must live in area to adopt, will not respond to out of area/country requests. Additionally, if fencing is required it must be a physical fence and in place at time of home visit.
