Blue's Story

This sweet little Yorkie boy, Blue, is available for adoption.

Blue was surrendered to a shelter because his owner was not allowed to have pets in their apartment. He is 3 years old and 8 pounds.

His foster parents really thought about keeping him. You can see why since he is so adorable. But they realized that since they are in their 70's and he is so young and active, he probably needs a younger family who will be able to play with him, take him for walks, be outside with him when he runs around in the fenced yard, and be around for his whole life so he doesn't need to be re-homed again. We know that was a hard decision for them.

He is not 100% housebroken but will wear a belly band. He seems to like little dogs but will bark at bigger dogs when out walking. He does bark at things he hears or sees out the door so an apartment/condo would not be a good place for him. He really would enjoy a fenced yard but would need someone to stay out with him when in a yard. Since he doesn't like being alone he would do best in a home where someone works from home, or where the family works different shifts.

For an application go to www.homesfurhounds.org

He is located in Williamsburg, Va.

Homes Fur Hounds, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
1. Once you have identified the dog(s) you are interested in meeting, you must submit an Adoption Application. You can find the application at https://www.homesfurhounds.org 2. Be patient. We occasionally have a high volume of applications, especially on puppies. 3. If your application is approved you will be contacted to arrange a meet and greet with the dog(s) you are interested in meeting. Whenever we have more than one applicant who is approved, we set up the meet and greet in the order in which the applications were received. 4. We are a small rescue group and do require home checks. Therefore, we only adopt to VA, NC and MD. Exceptions are made for medically needy or seniors if no qualified applicant is located in our adoption area. 5. We do keep applications on file for 6 months, so even if you aren’t selected for a particular dog, if you see another dog of interest, let us know and we will consider your application at that time. 6. Please don’t be offended if you are not selected to adopt. We try to match the dog with the BEST home for them. Just because you weren’t selected for a specific dog does not mean you can’t apply for another one. 7. Our adoption fee is $300.00.
