Blu is a fluffy 1 year old brown and black Shorkie (Shih Tzu + Yorkie mix) with a sweet and goofy personality packed into his light 12 pound frame. He is fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered.<br/><br/>Blu enjoys lounging on the couch, sitting on the porch, and relaxing pretty much anywhere as long as hes near his foster family. At bedtime, he happily sleeps in the bedroom and will usually snooze on the bed all night long. Blu does enjoy going for walks and has been doing well with a harness and leash. He also gets the zoomies and will leap as hes running around!<br/>He is a sweet-hearted, funny little guy with a touch of stubbornness. Blu knows his name and responds well, and hes been getting along nicely with the resident dog. Hes learning how to play and interact, though he hasnt quite discovered the fun of toys or balls yet.<br/><br/>Blu is working on potty training and does best with a consistent routine and frequent outings. He does not like being shut inside a kennel or penned in area so he is trying to learn that kennels and gated areas can be safe, calm places right now he prefers to stay close to his people. Wherever you are, Blu is too. If you sit, he sits. If you get up, he gets up. When you are on the move, so is Blu! He is a true little shadow who loves being part of whatever his humans are doing.<br/><br/>Blu will thrive with a person or family who loves having a pup by their side and enjoys a loyal little companion who sticks close. He will do best with someone patient enough to continue his potty-training routine and someone who understands that hes happiest when hes included in daily life. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home & truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption; discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, & 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.<br/>Last Hope, Inc. is an all volunteer, foster based, no kill rescue! You can see almost all of our dogs on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 11 am - 2 pm at Apple Valley Petco (7590 150th St W, Apple Valley, MN 55124)<br/>Policies: You do not have to have a fence to adopt a dog from us, but some dogs will require a fence or acres to play, or an active family who will make sure the dog gets the exercise it needs to be happy. Some dogs do not have the temperament that will do well with young children.<br/><br/>The Adoption Fee is not enough to cover the vet bills. By taking a dog or puppies temporarily into your home and then coming to our adoption days to help find them homes, we can save more!
