Blossom's Story

STURDY FENCE REQUIRED

FOSTERED IN GULF BREEZE

Blossom is an energetic 2-year-old Great Dane female with a goofy personality, snuggly disposition and just so loving and nurturing.

Blossom is being fostered with 3 other dogs: a great dane, a greyhound and a 45lb old pittie mix. She is GREAT with all of them! Blossom loves to play with the great dane and would love to have a sturdy buddy in her new home, although not absolutely required. Blossom loves hanging out in the yard, laying in cool spots and patrolling the perimeter for squirrels. She also loves snuggling on the couch with her humans and curling into a donut on your bed. She makes an excellent work from home office dog, but also would be fine with a family that leaves for work.

Blossom has excellent house manners and is fully potty trained and not destructive, although we do keep her in a separate dog safe room when we leave the house. Blossom loves when people come over and she will quickly try to be the center of attention or flop on her back to show new guests her belly. You’ll notice her lips commonly get stuck on her teeth which results in a very silly face!

Blossom has a fun goofy personality and loves meal time to the point that she jumps up and down like a silly kangaroo! We feed Blossom separately as we do all our dogs although she has no known resource guarding issues and she can politely take treats around other dogs (although she will try to be the first to get one). Another fun fact about Blossom, is that she has an excellent nose and LOVES hunting down rats!

Blossom would benefit from slow introductions to new dogs if she’s meeting family or friends dogs as she gets too excitable the first 30minutes or so. Once she’s calmed down a bit, she makes for excellent play dates and has had many at our house with varying sizes of dogs.

Blossom could use some more leash training as she also gets a bit over excited when she sees other dogs on the leash, but has been out and about with no problems and I have no trouble controlling her as an average size and strength woman. Blossom does need to be given space around strange small fluffy and squeaky dogs she doesn’t know as these tend to trigger her the worst. We just give her good distance and she does fine.

Blossom came into the rescue after being found as a stray in Alabama, so not much is known about her background. Shortly after being caught, Blossom gave birth to the Squash litter of 9 puppies and was an excellent mom to them. Now that the puppies are all adopted, it’s time for her to find a family that she can focus all of her playful and loving energy on.

Medical wise, Blossom is cleared by her vet of any major issues! We have noticed recent itchiness and are working to change up her food to get that to resolved. Will report back once we have a good answer/resolution here.

All that to say, is that Blossom is an extremely loving, snuggly and goofy girl. She will go from making you laugh at her kangaroo bounces, to pulling on your heart strings when she sits on your lap to get snuggles, or makes a donut in your bed to curl up to sleep. I promise you, you will not regret adopting this beautiful girl with her deeply loving eyes.

Blossom is spayed, current on vaccinations and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $400.

To read over the adoption requirements before applying to adopt, please go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt.

Please note: NWFLGDR does not transport. Approved adopters are required to pick up the dane in person from his/her foster parent.

Our Great Danes require a sturdy fenced in yard, particularly young or active danes. Generally, a six-foot or higher privacy fencing is preferred. In certain circumstances, the Board may waive this requirement depending upon the Dane's personality and temperament. Any such exceptions will solely be at the discretion of the Rescue Board. Under no circumstances will we consider invisible or electric fencing as acceptable. 6. We only adopt Dogs as indoor pets. We will not adopt Dogs to be used as guard dogs or to be kept out-of-doors. 7. A home visit is required for ALL adoptions, without exception. This is not a white-glove inspection, rather it is to ensure that the home is a safe environment for the Great Dane. 8. We do not transport. If you are applying from out of area or out of state, understand that if your application gets approved, you will be expected to pick up the dane in the location that he/she is being fostered.
