Birdie's Story

Everyone tells me that I need to be patient and wait for a nice family to come along and adopt me, but I can only wait so long! My name is Birdie and I have been the cutest dog at AGPR since 2024. It takes a lot of work to look this good, but I manage well. I try my best to keep my other friends in line as well but I was blessed with a shorter coat, so grooming is way easier and faster.

In my free time I enjoy playing in the yard with my friends, I am partial to handsome male dogs. When I’m not charming them, I like to take walks around the property to check for any unauthorized presences such as squirrels and deer. Chasing toys around the yard helps me to keep my girlish figure along with my diet of chicken which I very much enjoy. It takes a lot of activity to stay trim when I have so many volunteer friends who bring me cookies (which I never turn down…that would be rude).

Why haven’t I been adopted yet? The answer is I’m not so sure. I am a very friendly girl who loves everyone that will pay attention to me and scratch my ears. I have lots of energy and enjoy being active but would like a nice cozy couch to slump down on and some people to cuddle with. I also wouldn’t mind having a dog friend at home as long as I got to meet them first to make sure that we would get along. I would love to meet you so please consider submitting an application for me!

P.S. I turned a year old this month (August 2025)

All Great Pyrenees require a fenced-in yard (at least four foot high). If you have questions about the breed or our adoption policies and procedures, please go to our website at www.agprescue.org. There's plenty of good information about the breed on our website - Pyrs aren't a breed for everyone!

Our adoption application is online: http://agprescue.org/adoption-application/agpr-application-donations/ Please note that we are a small regional rescue organization. We will consider adopting to families within a four to five hour drive to Richmond, VA
