Beth's Story
Beth was found abandoned outside of Colusa along the Sacramento River. It took Animal Control three days to trap her. She kept walking up and down the center line of the levee road waiting for her people to come back. Beth has obviously had puppies in the past and could use some groceries.

In the shelter Beth was very depressed. She just laid on her dog bed and rarely lifted her head. After a few days in the shelter, one of the officers took pity on Beth and took her home for the weekend. Beth was a perfect lady! When told to get in the tub for a bath, she slowly climbed in and sat down for a good scrubbing. She is housebroken and had no accidents. She is low energy and just wants to follow her person from room to room. She is happiest hanging out on the couch. She would love to jump in bed and sleep with her person. The officer politely told her no when she tried to jump on the bed and pointed to a large pet bed. Beth gave a pouty look and then settled onto the pet bed for the night. Beth knows basic commands like sit, come, no, etc. Beth is great on the leash and does not jump up on people. She is indifferent toward other dogs. She would be fine living with other dogs, but she really only wants a person to love her.

Over the weekend the officer was cat sitting and took Beth along to see how she did. Beth didn't show any interest in the cats and would be probably fine with a confident adult cat.

Beth is very sweet and affectionate. She is a gentle giant who is low energy and does not need regular exercise. Lazy days spent on the couch are more her speed. She would be fine in an apartment. A few short leash walks to do her business each day is all she needs.

All adoptions are by appointment only. If you are interested in a meeting or adoption, please request an application via a Petfinder inquiry. The application will be emailed to you to complete and return, and an officer will contact you.

All adoptions are $10. A $50 spay/neuter deposit for dogs is fully refundable upon proof of spay/neuter. Spaying/neutering of shelter animals is required by California law; it is not optional.
