Meet Benny

Meet Benny! He is somewhere between 10-12 years old, 15-20lb, and looking for his forever home. The vet believes he is some sort of hound, or maybe beagle, mix. From his foster mom: "Benny is one of the sweetest boys ever! who ever adopts him will fall in love. Benny does ok in a crate, but is very trustworthy loose in a room with a potty pad. He does have a little separation anxiety, and will bark for a while when left alone, even with other dogs in the house with him. He lets it be known he is not content without a human near by. He is very loyal and bonds easily. He is very gentle, typically won't jump on people for attention but if he does he is soft and gentle. When you leave him and return, he likes to vocalize his happiness for your return- he moans and groans while happily wagging his tail. Benny is almost the perfect dog! He gets along well with all the other dogs and cats on property. He will let the other dogs know, if pushed to defend him self. He even tolerates the pet squirrel, even though he would love to chomp on Kyle! LoL! He is for ever grateful for the teeth cleaning and dental. He is still healing from the removal of 11 teeth, but is capable of eating dry dog food, but really prefers, a little canned food or yogurt added to his plate. Due to the number of dogs here I feed him in a crate, when finished he lets it be known he does not belong in a crate. ? He either sleeps in the bed with me or on the couch at night. He enjoys being outdoors with a human. If I take him to the barn with me, he follow every step I take, until he figures out I am not going to run off and leave him, then he relaxes and lays around either in the shade or sun. Benny is a great car buddy, He enjoys going for half mile or 50 mile rides, as long as someone will give him a ear rub every now and then. He is ok with older kids, men, women and cats. but I don't recommend him living in a apartment, due to the barking."

He will remain with our Georgia boarding partner until we can find him a permanent home in New England so we can reduce the stress and transitions on him. *Applications must be submitted at HarveysHope.org for consideration. *

Please note: We do not have a physical facility and the dogs are not located in Hudson, NH. We are a foster-based rescue and dogs can be located anywhere in New England. All adopters must be pre-approved to arrange a meet and greet, and the adopter is expected to travel to the dog's location. We do not transport once the dogs arrive in New England. Applications must be submitted at HarveysHope.org for consideration. We estimate it will be 1-2 weeks before you hear from one of our volunteers. Thank you!
