Benji - IN FOSTER HOME - AVAILABLE TO ADOPT's Story

Meet Benji — or “Benjamin Button,” as his foster mom affectionately calls him!

Benji is an adorable 7-year-old, approximately 10-pound little poodle mix or mini doodle of some sort. Whatever his breed, we know for sure that he is 100% cute!

Benji came to us after being surrendered to a local shelter in pretty rough shape. He was badly matted and filthy, but thanks to a volunteer groomer, that scruffy little pup got a much-needed makeover. When he still hadn’t found a home after a week in the crowded shelter, Red Barn Rescue stepped in and Benji headed to foster care.

He has settled beautifully into his foster home and is showing more of his sweet personality every day. He gets along well with other dogs and is working on housetraining. The shelter said he is good with kids - and he is definitely not the nippy little dog type. Friendly with everyone he meets!

Benji has also had some experience with cats in his foster home. He is completely relaxed around a confident outdoor cat who approaches him and even tries to rub against him — Benji simply sniffs her and goes about his business. The resident indoor cat is much more wary of Benji, and Benji will sometimes bark at him. Because of that, we think Benji could potentially live with a dog-savvy, confident cat with proper introductions.

Benji still has a little work to do before he is officially ready to head home. He is scheduled to be neutered on September 28 and will also be getting a much-needed dental cleaning. Once his vet care is complete, Benjamin Button will be ready to start the next chapter of his life!

If you think this sweet little guy might be the perfect addition to your family, submit an adoption application at redbarnrescue.com to meet Benji!
