Benedict's Story

Benedict is an 11-week-old puppy from Athena’s breakfast litter, and he currently holds the title of biggest puppy in the litter! At about 12 pounds, he has a little more puppy to love than some of his siblings, but he isn't expected to be a giant. He should grow into a medium-sized dog.

Benedict is a confident, outgoing puppy who seems to approach life with the attitude that there is absolutely no reason to be nervous about anything. New people? He'd like to meet them. Something interesting happening across the yard? He's on his way to investigate. His siblings are playing? He'll be right in the middle of it.

He's also a fun playmate for his siblings. Benedict enjoys a good puppy wrestling match, chasing toys and exploring the yard. When playtime is over, he's happy to settle down with his people for some attention and a puppy nap.

Benedict looks remarkably similar to his brother Java, especially their wispy coats. We haven't had Benedict's DNA tested, but Java's results give us a pretty good idea of the genetic cocktail these two may share. Java's DNA showed 24% American Pit Bull Terrier, 14% Shih Tzu, 9% Chihuahua, 8% Rottweiler, 6% Bichon Frise, 6% Poodle, 6% Labrador Retriever, 6% Staffordshire Terrier, 5% Rat Terrier, 4% Dachshund, 3% Bulldog, 2% Bull Terrier, 2% American Hairless Terrier, 2% Black Mouth Cur, 1% Maltese, 1% Weimaraner and 1% Polynesian Street Dog. Seventeen breeds in one very interesting family tree!

Like all of Athena's puppies, Benedict is looking for a family who understands that puppies need patience, training, supervision and plenty of time to learn how to be good dogs. He will need a physically fenced yard for safe play and exercise.

Benedict has been neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and has received his first two distemper/parvo vaccines. His adopter will be responsible for his last distemper/parvo vaccine and his rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age.

If you're looking for a confident, playful puppy who loves being part of the action and is ready for a family of his own, Benedict might be the one for you.

If you’d like to meet Benedict, please fill out an adoption application at www.furfunrescue.org.

If you have questions about Benedict, you can email rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657.

Adopters must live within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Indoor homes only.
Adoption Fee: $300

Fur Fun Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our dogs are all in foster homes. We require a completed application prior to meeting one of our dogs. The adoption application is on our website: furfunrescue.org. Once the application is received, we check the veterinarian reference if you have or have had pets. Then we contact you to set up a time to meet the dog. If, after meeting the dog you want to proceed with an adoption, we will run a background check, call personal references, and do a home visit. We always introduce our dog to any current pets. The final step is completing the adoption contract.
