Meet Bella ~ CGC ~ special adoption $150.00!
Bella is ready for her forever home -- won't you consider adopting her?!
Bella arrived on 9/1/11, and passed her CGC test on 10/6! She LOVES her training sessions and learns very quickly. She is 48 lbs. and turned 5 years old in Nov.'11. She has such beautiful and expressive eyes but is camera-shy so her photos don't do her justice at all.
Bella knows sit, down, stay, leave-it, come, wait, touch, go settle (her handlers can send her to lie down on her mat from great distances, including up a set of stairs and down a long hall -- very fancy!), relax, paw, wave, quiet, on & off, up, go behind, kisses, and walks nicely on a loose leash. Her house-training is excellent. She's also learning to differentiate toys by name. Bella LOVES to learn new things!
Bella had a recent vet visit where she behaved beautifullly and the vet said she was in perfect health. While at the office, Bella also behaved very nicely around 2 cats.
Bella is a joyful dog, especially when outside in the play yard -- leaping about, splashing in water (LOVES water!), joining other dogs in play, and baying this joyful bark as if it's just too much to keep inside. :-)
She didn't love getting into the car initially, but rode very nicely. She's great about crating, and accepts nail clipping and grooming well.
Though shy/wary at first with strangers, Bella has befriended many people in her current setting, and once she knows you she is just SO lovely and sweet. Extremely loyal and loving to her people -- her entire body wags with joy! She has warmly befriended all the handlers. She was initially quite worried about some officers and would bark/react sometimes. By week #2, she had befriended seven officers!! Her handlers are working specifically on this issue to build her confidence and teach more appropriate responses, and it's going very well. Her relaxation around strangers & officers has improved dramatically. In fact, as of 1/11, she happily goes for leash walks around the dayroom with a couple of officers. Still, we know Bella would not thrive in a bustling, urban setting with a constant barrage of strangers and startling activities, and she will benefit from consistent, calm guidance from her adopter.
We know Bella will be a natural watchdog in her new home. Recently, an officer had to inspect the handlers' room and Bella was required to be crated at this time. She barked quite a bit at the officer as he went through various items in the room. When her handlers are allowed to be in the room with her when an officer enters, they can easily get her to display appropriate behavior and they reinforce her for this.
