Bear Neapolitan Mastiff Mix Albany, NY

Bear is a 8 year old Neo Mastiff mix rescued from a local shelter after being surrendered by his owners (surrender photo is included with his other photos). Bear was emaciated and the shelter vet believed that he was gravely ill. Bear went to our vet immediately and was diagnosed with Lyme disease and hook worms, for which he was treated. He weighed 133lbs at that time and he currently up to 165lbs.
Bear is in foster care with large and small dogs and he gets along with everyone. He is house trained and does well off leash in the yard once bonded with you.
Bear is a bit of a high maintenance fella; He cannot walk on hardwood floors or other slippery surfaces and stairs can be difficult for him to navigate because of the arthritis. He needs his ears cleaned on a regular basis and he tends to need his bum wiped too. We've been giving him weekly medicated baths because he has oily skin. Oh and he is a huge drooler!
Despite all of his needs, Bear is a very affectionate and gentle giant. He is very well behaved and we would love to find him the perfect home.
(Bear has been waiting almost 2 years for a home!)
We have not tested Bear with cats and we will not place him in a home with very young children as we don’t know his history.
