Adorable, pocket sized cattle dog seeks emotional support human to help him feel safe and secure in this challenging world. Do you have experience with insecure, fearful, reactive dogs and a lot of time and patience to give? Do you have a fenced in yard in a quiet neighborhood? Are you looking for a charming, if slightly damaged, small heeler boy to share your home with?

Bandit’s ideal home is one with adults only who are committed to working with him on his issues. Bandit is very insecure and when he feels overwhelmed, threatened or startled, he will lash out. So absolutely no children in the home or as frequent visitors.

Bandit can live with a confident, medium sized female dog. One that will help him feel brave and show cues to help him thrive

He would prefer a quiet home without a lot of people coming and going. The hubbub of city life is not for him.

Bandit would really love a fenced in yard to play tug or frisbee in and sniff the day away. Once Bandit is comfortable with his human, he is a velcro dog and loves to snuggle. Bandit is happy to keep you company while you work from home but he is not an office dog. He is also not a dog park, beer garden, doggie daycare, family bbq, off leash hiking dog. He is not looking to experience the big wide world - he is quite content in his small patch of Earth where he feels most secure. For a cattle dog, he is pretty low energy. He does enjoy a good leash walk as long as he feels that his human has control of the environment around him.

Bandit is not great about going into the crate but he likes being in the crate before and after the door closes. Once settled, he is quiet and can spend the day snoozing away in the crate if need be. He is not destructive in any way. Bandit does not like meeting new people or new dogs. He will need to be monitored in any situation involving strangers. Bandit is muzzle trained and walks very well on a slip lead or gentle leader.

Mostly Bandit needs structure, consistency and security. He will need time (a lot of time), patience and continued training. If you think you and Bandit are a good fit, please contact the foster at meghangrabau@gmail.com and explain why. You can also fill out an application on the website. Prospective families will need to plan to meet Bandit at his foster home in Framingham, MA more than once. He takes awhile to warm up to people but we promise he is worth the wait!
