AYO's Story
Meet Ayo! 25 lbs. 3 yrs old. This resilient, joyful little fighter is looking for his perfect forever home. Ayo is proof that a special needs diagnosis doesn't mean a dog stops living life to the fullest. Despite his medical journey, his spirit is completely unbothered, and he is ready to bring an immense amount of love into your life.

Meet Ayo!

Personality: Upbeat, affectionate, and fiercely resilient

Dog Friendly: Yes! He does very well with other canine companions.

Special Considerations: IVDD survivor & temporarily intact (cannot be neutered for 9 months).

His Health & Special Needs
The Lowdown on his IVDD:
Ayo has Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), but if you watched him, you'd barely believe it. He is currently running around, active, and loving life! While his spirit is unstoppable, his future family will need to help him manage his condition to keep him safe and healthy. This means:

Keeping him on a good joint supplement and a strict healthy weight.

Using ramps instead of letting him jump on and off couches or beds.

Monitoring his activity so he doesn't overdo it (even if he wants to!).

His Neuter Schedule:
Due to his medical timeline and ensuring his body is fully stabilized, Ayo cannot be neutered for another 9 months.

Note for adopters: His forever family will need to commit to keeping him safely managed and separated from unspayed females until he can safely undergo his surgery.

The Ideal Home
Ayo would do wonderfully in a home with other dogs who can match his friendly energy but respect his boundaries. A single-story home or a family dedicated to utilizing pet ramps is a must to protect his back. He needs an adopter who sees past the "special needs" label and just sees the incredibly happy, fast-moving, loving dog that he is.

Ready to adopt Ayo?
If you have room in your heart for a dog who refuses to let anything slow him down, Ayo is waiting for you.
