Meet Axle
2 year old Axle was brought to the vets office to be euthanized for food
guarding...
Located- Sayville , NY
Upon arrival, he was fearful and anxious but quickly settled into the arms of a loving staff member. The staff knew putting Axle down was not an option but is now in desperate need of a home.
Axle is a male Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. Possibly has some pom, or Papillon, in his mix.
Axle was evaluated by trainer Robert Giglio and did well with his dog Tex, wanting to play. He has also been around smaller dogs and did fine. Axle was very sweet and loving. He was able to take treats gently from Rob, but did display guarding issues with food on the floor.
Rob's recommendation is an adult only home, with an experienced owner, who will continue his training. No furniture for this little guy as he doesn't like to be moved off of your lap/chair if attempted. Appears to stem from fear, which can be worked with.
This sweet boy deserves a forever home where he will be safe, loved and well taken care of. If you could provide structure and love, he will gain trust and find that healthy balance in his new home.
Poor Axle has been in boarding for months, he needs a foster or adopter to get him out of a cage and into a loving home.
