A big thank you to BBBR Foster Dad Mike for hosting Atlas for the weekend!
Mike reports, “I have had the pleasure of fostering Atlas several times over weekends, and have found each visit better than the last. He is ready for a home. He is a loving animal.....that loves hugs! Seriously, he wants to hug. He's not a licker, or has the need to mouth people like many of his breed, but he wants his hugs. He is a larger animal than most of his breed, and is an eye-catcher due to his lean, taller size. His muscular physique draws attention.
He is house-trained, walks (and jogs) well on a leash, and responds extremely well to training by using treats. He is very motivated by food. In the time I've had him, he has barked once, and that was due to someone being in my yard. He loves to "go", be that for a walk or a ride. Atlas does well riding in a car.
Atlas has been trained to sit when attaching a leash, getting in/out of cars, or through doors. Over time I have witnessed his approach to other animals and people. He is curious, but does not show signs of hostility. He is food-focused, and knows when it is dinner time, you will see him seek attention when that happens. He is less anxious than he used to be, but I have learned that a set schedule and having plenty of treats for him to chew on are helpful.
Atlas is a gentle giant, very quiet but always wanting to be where the party is. He seems aware of other people and animals without reacting to them. He loves attention, food, and routine. He would make a great addition to any family.”
