Animal Control in rural SC were called to a trailer park to "remove the strays." Astro stood on top of a barrel to get the attention of AC officers. They rescued him from a huge chain that was wrapped 5 times around the barrel. Astro and his friend, Arnold, were both chained out in mud. They had no fresh water to drink(only muddy rain water), no food, and no shelter. As it turned out, these two dogs were owned by the person who had complained about the "strays." The owner stated to AC that he took good care of his dogs. Yet neither had ever been to the vet, were not on flea/tick/heartworm preventatives, and were SO hungry that they were rooting in the mud for food.

Astro is a super happy, friendly dog who loves everyone. He just wants to be around people. While Astro does okay with other dogs, he sometimes try to control other dogs if they are rough-housing. This sweet guy needs to find a person or family who will give him an indoor home with good food and a soft bed. He is such a lovebug! Anyone who adopts Astro is going to be very lucky.

Can you please give this darling boy the forever home he needs? He will give you all the love his big heart holds! Please apply to adopt Astro today.

The adoption fee for this dog is $300, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee INCLUDES spay/neuter and microchip. Our adult animal fees are based on: fees we pay to shelters, vetting costs, transport costs, and boarding costs. Some animals cost more than others to rescue, so that is why our fees range from $275-$350.

Be sure to ask us about getting a free 30-minute phone consult with a professional dog trainer within the first 30 days of adopting - just for HT adopters. Start your new dog out on the right foot with this valuable, expert advice and guidance FREE!

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please check out our information about fostering.
