Arnold's Story

** If you are interested in adopting Arnold, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ **

Arnold is a 2 year old, 24 pound Jack Russell Terrier / Schnauzer mix with a sensitive little soul and a whole lot of potential. This sweet boy came to us from a high-kill shelter in Houston, Texas, where he was found as a stray alongside another dog. Sadly, Arnold was placed on the euthanasia list simply because he was scared at the shelter. We saw something worth saving in this nervous little guy, and we knew he deserved a chance to feel safe.

Arnold has had a bit of a journey since arriving in Colorado. He initially went to a foster home without another dog, but even after several weeks, he remained quite reserved. We decided to try something different and moved him to a foster home with other dogs, knowing that sometimes the best way to help a nervous pup find his confidence is to let him learn from his doggy friends. So far, Arnold is adjusting well and beginning to settle in.

It's pretty clear that Arnold may have never truly experienced life in a home before, and he's still figuring out how this whole living-the-good-life thing works. New experiences can feel overwhelming to him, but please don't mistake his nervousness for aggression. Arnold allows himself to be handled and touched without ever nipping. He's simply a worried little guy who needs time to learn that the world isn't such a scary place after all.

Arnold will need a home with another friendly, confident dog who can help show him the ropes and give him some reassurance. He'll also need a patient, understanding human who won't expect him to blossom overnight. He may take time to warm up, build trust, and feel comfortable in his new surroundings, but he deserves the chance to do all of those things at his own pace.

Arnold isn't going to be the dog who walks into a new home and immediately acts like he's lived there his whole life. He's going to need someone who understands that confidence is built through kindness, consistency, and time. But imagine how wonderful it will be to watch this little guy discover that he is safe, loved, and finally home.

If you have a friendly dog, a patient heart, and room in your life for a sweet boy who just needs a little extra encouragement, Arnold could be the one you've been waiting for.

We'd like to place Arnold in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A positive reinforcement trainer promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area.

Arnold is up to date on his vaccinations, has been fully vetted, is healthy, heartworm negative, and is neutered.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out 400 dogs each year.

Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
