He is a 10 year old (8/11/16), 70 pound neutered Blue Tick Coonhound and Treeing Walker Coonhound mix, purchased as a puppy. He is up to date on rabies and DHLPP vaccines as well preventatives. He is also microchipped. <br/><br/>He is generally a very friendly dog and other than barking at guests while they are still outside, he typically greets them with sniffs once they are inside. <br/><br/>He is housetrained and semi-crate trained (he barks the whole time but does not pee or poop). <br/><br/>He enjoyed being a snuggle buddy since he was a puppy but once his family had kids he was not allowed on the couches anymore. He does enjoy a comfy doggie bed.<br/><br/>Before kids, Angus used to love sleeping under the covers with family every night and would snuggle on the couch under a blanket. He would probably very much enjoy having sofa and bed snuggle privileges again in his new home!!!<br/><br/>He does not really play with toys much, but he will certainly fetch a treat if you toss it near him and will sometimes roughhouse. <br/><br/>Argus has not adjusted well to military lifestyle over the last 6 years and has not adjusted well to his family having kids and needing to focus on them instead of him. <br/><br/>His family loves him very much but they are a military family that has to relocate fairly often and they feel that he needs a stationary, child free, dog free home where he has a more predictable life style and is allowed more snuggle time, etc with his owners. <br/><br/>Argus has been more than fine with all of their kids and any other child who has come around but was initially very wary of the first new baby/toddler so he will be best in an adults only home though should be fine with well mannered, respectful older kids coming to visit. <br/><br/>He is extremely food motivated and will do anything and everything to get anything he thinks might be food. He is a hound after all!! So, his new family should not leave food lying around within reach or out on counters.<br/><br/>He is extremely reactive to other animals, primarily dogs, and makes his presence known so ideally his new home will have a fenced yard for him to run around in and be willing to work with him on walks to reduce his reactivity. Argus needs to be the only dog in his new home.<br/><br/>He knows a few basic commands and performs well for a treat (sit, paw, other paw, down, wait), he will even howl with you if you get him started, but is otherwise not very obedient with recall or leave it command. <br/><br/>Other than several suspected lipomas (benign and common as dogs age) he has no known health problems.<br/><br/>His current owner just wants to see him deeply loved and spoiled rotten in a home more suited to him. He needs a good, stable, patient, loving home where he can spend his years just being a hound dog running around and smelling to his hearts content. <br/><br/>He comes with an XL metal kennel with a bed in it, dog bed, food and bowl, collar, leash, remaining preventatives, and all paperwork.<br/><br/>Adoption donation $100.<br/><br/>
Please note that we do not ship animals. We also require a home visit before finalizing any adoptions so preference is given to applicants within a 90 mile range. You will be required to come to High Point, NC to meet/pick up your new pet.<br/><br/>

<br/>3. The application will open as a PDF and you should have the ability to fill it in from that page. Be sure to complete all fields.
<br/>4. Save the application to your computer, then attach in an email and send to petprojectnc@gmail.com
<br/>5. Someone will review your application as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours, and will be in touch with next steps.
