April's Story

**IMPORTANT** Hart-2-Heart Rescue, Greensboro, North Carolina only posts our adoptable dogs on Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet. Once you email us we will email you questions and our adoption application. Please do not complete an application for any of our dogs on a pet adoption platform, as we only accept applications submitted on the application we sent you.
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please contact us at h2hadoptions@gmail.com.
---------
The adoption range for this dog is North Carolina, South Carolina, northeastern GA, east TN, DC area, VA, and southern MD.
-----------
April is a sweet, spirited 4-year-old, 10-pound Silky Terrier with all the charm the breed is known for. She's intelligent, affectionate, playful, and always curious about what's happening around her. Like many Silkies, she has a little stubborn streak, but it only adds to her personality. She loves staying busy, exploring her surroundings, and, most of all, soaking up attention from her people.

April's story is nothing short of remarkable. She was rescued by a Good Samaritan after being spotted in the middle of a busy interstate. Her coat was so severely matted that she couldnt see and her limbs could barely move. Thankfully, she was rescued, groomed, and given the care she desperately needed. Today, she has blossomed into a happy little dog who clearly knows she's safe and loved.

April is a true people dog. She adores sitting in laps, happily greets visitors and strangers, and will gently remind you whenever she thinks it's time for more affection. Her cheerful personality shines through every day, and her tail seems to have a mind of its own.

Like many terriers, April has a confident attitude and doesn't let her small size define her. She isn't afraid to stand up for herself—even with dogs much larger than she is. Because she enjoys being the center of attention and can be possessive of lap time, she would be happiest as an only dog. However, she may be able to share a home with one other small dog (under 10 pounds) who isn't possessive of her people.

April has keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), also known as dry eye. She needs tacrolimus eye drops twice daily for the rest of her life to keep her eyes moist and comfortable. The medication costs approximately $55 per bottle, with each bottle lasting about six weeks. One bottle will be provided at the time of adoption.

April is still working on her house-training skills. She does well with consistency and learns when taken outside on a regular schedule. She will also use potty pads, so she'll do best with a patient adopter who is willing to continue helping her build good potty habits.

If you're looking for a beautiful loyal little companion with a big personality, April may be the perfect match. She has overcome a difficult beginning and is now ready for a forever home where she can be cherished, pampered, and included as part of the family. In return, she'll reward you with endless affection, plenty of smiles, and the devoted companionship that Silky Terriers are known for.
Please email h2hadoptions@gmail.com directly. There is an application process and a $500 adoption fee.

WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD. The secure fence must be attached to the home, 4 feet or higher with gaps with no larger than 1.5 inches. An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace without grass, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing) it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions.

We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business.
Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports.

Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, Bordetella, and rabies vaccines, and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing.

Adoption Fee: $500
