Apollo's Story

This big, happy goofball is just over a year old (estimated birthday May 9, 2025) and currently around 79 lbs. He's a German Shepherd / Great Pyrenees mix. He has a sponsor and his total adoption fee is $75.

Apollo is one of the sweetest and smartest young dogs you'll meet. He loves receiving hugs, soaking up all the pets, and hanging out with his people. He's a huge fan of running around outside, chasing balls, being chased around, solving food puzzles, and chewing on sticks he finds in the yard. He also adores snow and is comfortable with regular grooming.

He knows commands like sit, down, wait, shake, and crate, and hes mat trained. He's working on his leash walking after some cold-weather regression, and hes still improving on come. He can be high-energy and playful when its time to play, but in the best way. He's crate trained and can stay in his crate for several hours when needed, though he'd thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and someone who works from home or can give him plenty of exercise and attention.

On the health side, he's had some digestive issues early on, which may have been a reaction to NexGard Plus, but he's doing awesome now on Purina Sensitive Stomach food with added fiber and probiotics.

He does not do well with cats (he gets too excited and plays way too rough), so he needs a cat-free home. Apollo is a loving, happy boy who will do best with an active family ready for his size and energy.

His current family is absolutely devastated to be looking for a new home for him, but they want what's best for Apollo a family who will give him all the love, structure, exercise, and patience he deserves.

Apollo is currently in Wisconsin. The weekend of July 17 & 18 he can be transported back to locations Illinois and Missouri as listed below.

We encourage adopters to read profiles fully and reach out with any questions we are always happy to help.
