Arrival Story: This handsome fella was spotted at the Macomb County Animal Control where he was brought in as a stray, and what is believed to be a sibling, and never claimed by his owner.

Approximate Age/Weight: 1 year old and 80 lbs.

Personality: Apollo brings a smile to everyone’s face that he meets. His physique is a bit majestic and sometimes the way he carries himself, we think he may just know it. He is a sensitive soul, though. He can be anxious, following you room to room and sometimes gets barky and howls. He’s looking for a person/family in it for the long haul. We know it will just take some time for Apollo to feel safe and comfortable in a new home. Currently, Apollo is on a low-dose medication to help him cope and it is working well. Once friends, he will sit on your lap or snuggle into you close.

Food/treats are a great motivator for Apollo and he is fond of a good walk/run. He’s got a bit of a sensitive tummy, too. Our boy is great at the vet’s office and learning that car rides are fun. He likes to attend doggy daycare and spend time with canine pals. Apollo loves attention and getting his bum scratched.

Apollo is getting to know what cats are all about in his foster home. He does not chase but is very, very interested in resident cats who are not used to living with a big dog. Ideally, a dog savvy cat may work in permanent home with Apollo.

Forever Home: Apollo would love a patient person / family that is active and likes to go for walks, play and snuggle. No electric fences, please. Apartment or Condo not a good fit.
