Annika German Shepherd Dog Chesterfield, MO

Annika is a beautiful 3 year old female German Shepherd - don't you agree?! Annika came to us originally because another dog in the home was picking on her. She was adopted, but unfortunately it's not quite the right fit - while Annika can do well with other large dogs (though she's a little bossy sometimes), she is not a good match for homes with small dogs, cats, chickens, and other tiny furry friends. Annika has been to doggy daycare and played well with other dogs her size. However, more recently she has been very dog selective. It may be best to find her a home where she is the only dog at first, and work on introductions with new friends once trust and communication has been established with her new family.

Like most GSD's, Annika is a bit aloof when first meeting new people, but she quickly warms up and wants to be your best friend. You know you're special when you get the kangaroo hops from this girl in her excitement! . She is currently living with children and does well with them, though we would recommend at least grade school age or older. She is house trained and knows how to be in a crate, but is sometimes vocal in her disagreement about having to be in there and miss out on the fun (foster mom is working on this to help her understand the crate can be a good space for rest and quiet time).

We hope you like to play, because balls and toys are the center of her world! She has a lot of energy and toy drive, and we would love to see her find a home where she has a good outlet for both. As in - she will do anything for a ball. With her smarts and athletics, she could be a great potential sport dog in the right hands!

Due to a recent history of recurrent ear infections, Annika is currently on prescription Purina HA food for allergies. She is doing well so far with that, and it is not yet known if this will be needed long term or just until the particular cause of her allergy is determined.

Our Adoption Fees:

*Dogs and puppies 12 months old or younger: $400

* Adult dogs over 12 months of age: $350

* Senior dogs over 7 years of age qualify for our "Seniors FUREVER" program! Seniors are special to us, so we offer two options:

(1) If your heart has a special place for the seniors, you can adopt a senior dog for the regular adoption fee of $350 and this becomes a perpetual fee. You can adopt another SGSDR senior dog at any time from us in the future at NO CHARGE.
(2) If you aren't sure about your future adoption capacity, you may adopt your SGSDR senior dog for a reduced adoption fee of $250.
