Anneka's Story
-Written by Anneeka, a 14-week-old, 23lb female Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix.
---------------------------------------------

I was the puppy that no one wanted. My first family wasn't all that nice to me. They barely made me any attention and didn't feed me well. One day, they decided that they didn't want me at all anymore and they dumped me. I was just a baby. What had I done to deserve such a fate? To be dumped when all I wanted was a family of my own? Suddenly, I was dodging cars, trying to avoid those who didn't have the best intentions.. animals and people alike, and trying to find food and water. When I was finally picked up off the streets..things didn't get better. The city I was dumped in didn't have an animal shelter, so I was serving my stray hold in an outdoor kennel with next to no shelter. I spent the day in and day out, outside in the heat all alone. What kind of life was that for a puppy?! Once again, I was being all but forgotten about. Once my stray hold ended, the city tried bringing me to a bigger animal shelter in another city. They turned me away though. The shelter was at capacity and did not have room for another pup. My first family didn't want me, animal control didn't want me, and now even another shelter was turning me away. Animal control ended up bringing me back and leaving me with a spay and neuter clinic. At first, they said they couldn't take me either...they didn't have room to house stray animals. Animal control said that if they didn't take me then they knew what would happen to me because no one wanted me and there was no place for me to go. So, the clinic ended up being my hero and taking me and reaching out to this rescue. Finally, after a whirlwind of no's... this rescue said YES! And finally, I was being given a true second chance.

I am a playful girl. When you have been passed around as many times as I have been, you learn to make the most out of things. I try to live life to the fullest because more than once in my young life I wasn't sure if I would make it to the next day. I love to play with toys. I am not picky on which ones I play with either, I love them all. From nylabones to wishbones to soft toys...give me all the toys! I do like to chase after toys that you throw but have not quite figured out that I am supposed to bring them back yet. I have not had the chance to go swimming yet so am unsure if I am a water dog or not. I am too young for walks right now, but do love playing in the backyard.

I was initially unsure about the other dogs in my foster home. Now that I have learned that they won't hurt me, you cannot keep me away from them! I love to both play and snuggle with the other dogs in my foster home. I am not being fostered around cats or kids. However, given my age and personality, I think I would do well with them. I haven't met too many people yet, but those that I have met I was very friendly and all tail wags with them!

I am potty trained already. I am also kennel trained, but I am really not a fan of it. So far, I have not been a big chewer in my foster home. At night, I will sometimes sleep on the floor, sometimes on a doggie bed, and other times I will even sleep in bed with my foster family! I am discovering my big girl bark and will use it if I see something that needs investigating.

I have been passed around. I have been unwanted. I have been the puppy that everyone overlooks. I don't want to ever be that girl again. I want someone to look at me and say...that is MY girl! ♥ I want someone to adopt me and never let me go. I am a very friendly girl and believe that I would do well in pretty much any home enviroment. I have already been an until dog and that caused me to almost lose my life a few times....never again. Never again do I want to be someone's until. I want to be their FUREVER!

So, please only apply for me if you are prepared to keep me through life's changes. If you are ready for a commitment like that, the app to adopt me can be found at
https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Once this app comes in, it will be sent on to my foster family. This is to help ensure that not only am I a good fit for you but that you are also a good fit for me! ?

I am currently residing in Oklahoma City, OK. I do ask that my new family pick me up, none of that outside transport stuff. If I am going to move in with you, I expect to start our journey in the car together driving home TOGETHER. ?

Now I know that you may have fallen in love with me, but I am not quite ready to go home yet. I won't be ready to go home with you until around the end of August. I hope that you will still apply to adopt me though, that way after my final vetting with this rescue I will already have a family waiting! ?

My adoption fee is $300.
That will include two sets of puppy shots and wormings. I will also have had a bordetella. I will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.

EPILOGUE
-Below is an excerpt from Anneka's foster family.

"Annee is very sweet, loving, affectionate, and has a real regal air to her. She loves her new siblings and shares toys with them, but will bark if they have a toy she might want instead but does not go after it. She is growing into her legs, so a bit clumsy at times but works hard at keeping up with her much larger and faster siblings. She loves to cuddle!!!! And eat crushed ice!"
