Andre is fairly new to the rescue. However, so far he has been an absolute joy to have around. He is a sweet guy who loves getting petted and lounging in the air conditioning. Given his furry coat we can see why that is his favorite thing to do right now.
Andre has met several dogs and has done very well. He has met small dogs, big dogs, older dogs, young dogs, you name it. He likes to sniff and follow them around but that is often short lived and he moves onto the next task. Andre is not fostered with kids but based on his personality we think he would do ok. He is also not fostered with cats but he doesn’t seem to have any signs he is prey driven for smaller animals.
We are guessing Andre may have spent a lot of time outdoors, perhaps living there. He does well in his crate but can be a little barky. We don’t think he was ever crated before. His foster puts him in his crate overnight and once settled has acclimated well. Andre does need some leash work as he is not sure which direction to go in and can pull a bit. He enjoys the freedom of the fenced yard though and has been using the restroom regularly outside.
Andre is Lyme and Ehrlichia positive so he will need to finish up his Lyme boosters in his adoptive home which can be completed at the rescue's vet. Andre will need a regular yearly booster of Lyme due to this diagnosis. Lyme is a tick borne disease.
