Amir's Story
Meet Amir.

Amir's story begins in Texas, where he and the rest of his pack were dumped on the side of the road. They were frightened and unsure of people, and rescuers spent days and weeks patiently working to earn their trust. Through hand-feeding, patience, and a whole lot of persistence, they were finally able to catch the dogs and bring them to safety. Amir is now in Iowa, ready to find the person who will continue showing him that he is safe.

Amir is a shy, energetic boy who is still figuring out this whole new world. He can be skittish and reserved when you first meet him, but underneath that nervousness is a playful, friendly, adventurous dog who wants to feel safe enough to let you into his world.

Amir is definitely a slow-to-warm-up kind of guy. He may not immediately come over looking for attention, and he needs someone who understands that trust cannot be rushed. Give him time, move slowly, and let him decide when he is ready. Eventually, Amir will allow you to pet him and be close to him, and those little moments are incredibly rewarding.

Once he feels comfortable, Amir's playful and adventurous personality starts to come out. He has plenty of energy and will need daily exercise, structure, and routine to help him continue building confidence and learning what is expected of him.

Amir will need a fenced yard and a home where he has plenty of space to decompress. He would not be a good fit for an apartment or community living environment. His ideal family will be patient, active, and willing to give him the consistency he needs to feel secure.

Amir may not be the dog who runs up to greet you on day one. He may need you to wait. But after everything this boy has been through, he deserves someone who will.

If you have the patience, structure, and time to help Amir come out of his shell, you could be the person who finally shows him what it means to have a home.
