Meet Amara!<br/><br/>It’s hard to imagine what this sweet girl went through before coming into our care. Amara was found running down the street with a rope still attached to her, emaciated, starving, and looking like she had just given birth yet again. Her little body had clearly been through so much, and the thought of what her life must have been like was heartbreaking. Thankfully, when her foster mom heard about her, she immediately said yes. And just like that, Amara’s entire world changed.<br/><br/>Now on to the best part, Amara herself!<br/><br/>Amara is estimated to be 4yrs old and weighs 17lbs. She is quite possibly one of the sweetest little angels you’ll ever meet. Despite everything she’s been through, she has settled into home life beautifully. It’s almost like she’s been waiting her whole life for someone to give her a chance to just be a dog.<br/><br/>She’s a smart little cookie, too! She figured out the doggy door pretty quickly, knows how to sit with both a verbal command and hand signal, and will even do the cutest little twirl when you ask her to turn. She’s eager to learn and seems to genuinely enjoy making her humans happy.<br/><br/>Amara is currently being fostered with other dogs and has been very respectful and submissive toward her foster brothers and sister. She’s not one to come barging into a room demanding everyone play with her, but she does occasionally invite her furry roommates to join in on some fun. She’s a gentle little soul who seems perfectly content just being part of the pack.<br/><br/>But if we’re being honest, her favorite place in the world is wherever her foster mom happens to be.<br/><br/>Amara is a certified little shadow. Working at your desk? She’d love to curl up quietly in your lap. Watching TV? She’s available for snuggles. Going to bed? She would absolutely love an invitation to join you. That being said, she’s not demanding about it. She’ll happily sleep in her own little house, on a dog bed, or at the foot of the bed without any fuss. She just loves being close to her people.<br/><br/>She’s also an excellent little passenger princess! Amara rides beautifully in the car, sitting in her dog seat and gazing out the window like she’s got somewhere very important to be. After spending who knows how long just trying to survive, we think she deserves a lifetime of car rides to fun places.<br/><br/>And let’s talk about her house manners, because this girl deserves some serious credit. Amara has had no potty accidents in her foster home and hasn’t shown any destructive behavior. She can settle quietly in her crate for some downtime, although when she’s decided she’s ready to come out, she’ll let you know with the funniest little purr-like whine. Nothing dramatic, just a polite little reminder that she’s still in there.<br/><br/>At mealtime, Amara usually finishes every bite, which is understandable considering where she came from. Occasionally, though, she’ll save a little for later and make sure her foster mom knows when she’s ready for round two. A girl likes to have options!<br/><br/>Amara is looking for a forever family who will make her part of their everyday life. She doesn’t need anything extravagant. She wants someone to follow around the house, a cozy place to sleep, some adventures here and there, and plenty of love. She would love a family who appreciates a gentle, affectionate companion and understands just how special it is to earn the trust of a dog who has been through so much.<br/><br/>We don’t know what Amara’s life looked like before she was found running down that street. We don’t know how many puppies she’s had or how many nights she went hungry. But we do know one thing: she will never have to live that life again.<br/><br/>Now it’s her turn to be someone’s baby. To be spoiled, adored, and loved for the rest of her life.<br/><br/>And we can’t wait to find the lucky family who gets to give her exactly that.<br/><br/>Amara is finishing up heartworm treatment and is available to transport to her forever family at the beginning of November. <br/><br/>** Please note before applying Amara DOES SHED**<br/><br/>She is located in Houston, Texas but is available for adoption many places across the country.
