Adoptable Alfie is FINE.<br/>He’s happy. He smiles at everyone. He’s making the best of his life.<br/>But “fine” is not what Alfie deserves.<br/>Alfie has been with Caring Animal Rescue Inc since he was just a year old. He’s now about 312 years old, and in all that time, he has not received a single adoption application. Not one.<br/>And the crazy thing is, there is NOTHING wrong with Alfie.<br/>He is one of those incredibly easy, good-natured dogs who should have been somebody’s beloved family dog a long time ago:<br/>• Great with kids and all the noise and commotion that comes with them<br/>• Great with other dogs, even the little yappy ones<br/>• Great with cats<br/>• Walks easily on leash<br/>• Rides well in the car<br/>• Takes treats gently<br/>• Is quiet<br/>• Potties appropriately at the daycare where he lives and should transition easily to house training<br/>• Is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations<br/>• Is past the puppy-craziness stage, but still has plenty of goofy, wiggly fun left in him<br/>And he is SO loving.<br/>Alfie wants to be where his people are. He wants to be part of whatever is happening. He’ll happily flop his entire 64-lb body upside down in the middle of a walk just because rolling around feels like a good idea.<br/>Everyone who actually meets Alfie loves him.<br/>His problem is that people aren’t meeting him.<br/>He keeps getting passed over for smaller, flashier, more photogenic dogs. Alfie is a bit of a hambone, and apparently his enormous smile and goofy charm don’t translate quite as well in adoption photos as they do in person.<br/>But this dog would make a wonderful family dog. To ensure successful pairings, we carefully assess each animals unique behavior and match it with a potential adopters lifestyle.<br/><br/>Essential Requirements<br/><br/>To be considered for adoption, you must meet the following baseline criteria: Complete Application: All online forms must be filled out entirely to be processed.<br/><br/>Verifiable References: You must provide verifiable vet, address, and character references.<br/><br/>Background Verification: We cross-check property records for homeowners and review lease agreements for tenants.<br/><br/>Home Status: All existing pets in your household must be fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered.<br/><br/>Kitten Policy: Kittens under 10 months old must be adopted in pairs unless an existing cat lives in the home.<br/><br/>Location Limit: We only adopt to families living within a 25-mile radius of our facility. We currently cannot accept out-of-state applications.<br/><br/>Step-by-Step Adoption Process:<br/><br/>Our rescue is run entirely by passionate volunteers who volunteer their time outside of their 9-5 paying jobs. We process every application with the best interest of our animals in mind.<br/><br/>1. Submit Application: Fill out the online paperwork completely via our Adoption Application Page.<br/><br/>2. Screening: Volunteers review your submission and contact your landlord, vet, and character references.<br/><br/>3. We will reach out for a phone or email interview. (We will only notify you if your application is approved.) Please be sure to check your spam folder.<br/><br/>4. Initial Meet & Greet: If you are approved, we will schedule a visit to our facility. All household members, including children, roommates, and other resident dogs, must attend.<br/><br/>5. Home Visit & Pet Introduction: We conduct an at-home visit to ensure a safe environment and verify that all resident humans and pets get along.<br/><br/><br/>Finalization: If the home visit is successful, you will sign the official adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.<br/><br/><br/>Adoption Fee Breakdown<br/>Every dollar from our adoption fees goes directly toward the shelter and medical care of our animals.
