AL's Story

You may have seen little pup AL on the LOST West Milford Pets FB page back in early Fall. He was brought into our shelter as a starving stray mid-September. At approx 8 months old, per our Vet, he is fun, energetic and a bit of a rascal needing training. lol AL needs to be adopted as your ONLY pet. He can be adopted to a family with kids 12+ years old. This adorable pup needs someone who will work diligently to get him on the right track. He was recently adopted however, came back because he did not get along with the owners dog. He was possessive of food and other items with their dog. So again, we will adopt him as your only pet. AL is smart and catches on to commands quickly, he needs daily structure, exercise and training. Are you up to the challenge to work with and love AL? or do you like a couch potato dog (which right now we do not have a couch potato dog lol Our Cade is calmer but still likes to be active) So think about it, If you are active and want to bring home a young active terrier, AL is your boy!
We offer a free session with our trainer, Canine Cooperative, after an adoption is finalized. So don't forget to ask!

Stop by to fill out an adoption application and spend as much time as you like with our dogs. We do not adopt first come; we always select the best placement for our animals. Please call your veterinarian to permit them to speak with us for our vet check. If you rent, bring proof (lease/contract) that you are allowed to have a dog. We offer a free session with our trainer, Canine Cooperative, once an adoption is finalized.

Our adoption fee is $150 for dogs. This includes heartworm and Lyme testing, flea/tick preventatives, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines, and spay/neuter if six months or older. If they are too young, we require a $50 deposit that will be refunded upon proof that the pet has been altered.

For more info on our shelter and available pets, check us out online:

West Milford Animal Shelter Society
Lycosky Drive, West Milford, NJ 07480
(973) 728-2859

Visiting Hours
Mon - Fri: 10a - 1p
Wed Night: 7:30p - 9p
Weekends: 10a - 3p
