Ace 3248's Story
07/09/26 — Meet Ace, our longest resident of the rescue.

Ace is a 6-year-old, all-natural Doberman who’s been waiting more than a year for his forever home. For far too long, he’s watched other dogs head off with their new families while he stays behind, still hoping his turn will come. Through no fault of his own, Ace has been let down by people twice—but he hasn’t lost hope, and he’s never stopped loving humans.

Every day, Ace waits patiently in his kennel until it’s time to go out. When he sees his favorite volunteers, his whole body lights up—complete with those joyful “helicopter tail” spins that make it impossible not to smile.

Ace loves going for walks and is wonderful on leash: no pulling, non-reactive, and he checks in with you along the way. And when the walk is over, his favorite thing is simply being close to his people—hanging out in the office and soaking up every bit of affection he can get.

Once Ace knows and trusts you, he forms a deep bond and looks at you like you’re his whole world.

Like many Dobermans, Ace can be cautious with new people coming into his home, so he’ll do best in a low-traffic, adult-only home with an experienced Doberman owner.

Ace has an enormous heart and will be an incredibly loyal, loving companion. All he needs now is the right person to see him—and choose him.
Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). These dogs will always be supported by DRL. We welcome financial support for these dogs. Here are links to foster and adoption applications for those dogs who need a foster home or adoptive home.
Foster Application Adoption Application
