Meet Tiger

Tiger is now safely in our care, in a foster home. He is doing great and could easily transition to a new home now. Please complete an adoption application at www.rescueangelssomd.com. Update from foster mom 10/4/21: Tiger is a pretty active guy. He doesn't read my cat's 'stop' signals or boundaries very well and seems like he'd like a friend to play with more than my cat's willing to play. So I think a younger cat might be a good fit for him. It did take the two cats about a month to really adjust to each other, which seemed kind of long to me. That could have been my cat's resistance more than Tiger, though.

As far as a home that would be good for him, I think a house with fewer stairs than mine (townhouse) would be beneficial, but not necessary. He navigates really well around the house. He's very friendly with all of the people I've introduced to him. I've not seen him around kids, but I don't think he's have a problem with kids unless they were pulling on his fur or tail a lot. If he doesn't like something he tends to swat, sometimes with claws. So maybe not toddlers. He probably do best in a home with kids 10+ or just adults and would probably prefer a cat buddy, but would do alright as a single cat.

Other info: He lets me clip his claws with no fuss and enjoys a nice brushing, but does sometimes want to play with the brush instead. He loves pets and cuddles and likes me to pick him up and carry him. I do try to put him down in the same place every time so that he knows where he is. He's a friendly, chill dude who just wants all of your love, some treats, and lots of catnip toys.
Update from foster mom 8/21: Settling in-wise, he's comfortable in the house and seems comfortable around my dog, but he and my cat still aren't really comfortable with each other yet. We tried introducing them a few weeks ago but they had a couple scuffles (no blood drawn, but plenty of hissing) so we decided to separate them again. We've started introducing them again this past week and have mainly had success. Tiger seems to want to play with Sebastian (my cat) but Sebastian isn't ready for that yet. Tiger isn't great about taking a hint, so I have to separate them when Sebastian gets overwhelmed. They're up to 30 minutes of supervised interaction and we haven't had any fights yet. His weight hasn't dropped much, but he looks thinner as you can see the dip from ribs to hips when looking at him from the top now. He'd be an absolute unit of a cat even if he was skinny though. He's large and in charge. He's an extremely friendly cat and very playful too! He loves the catnip and jingly ball toys we got for him, but paper bags are also fun! When he isn't asking us to play with him he wants to snuggle and be petted. He likes being picked up and carried around. Tiger and 2 other cats in the household were/are to be surrendered for the child's severe allergies and we are trying to prevent them from going to the shelter. Owner says all of the cats are spayed/neutered and she will have their vaccinations updated before adoption. From the owner: Tiger, my oldest boy, 12 years young. He was born blind but that hasn't halted him at all in life. He makes his way around just fine. I've kept him in his own room for his protection when I'm not home in the fear he will get up high and not be able to get down without hurting himself. He is a tall/lengthy guy, his tail alone is about 14in! He is a kneader with some strong paws so have a blanket for protection on your legs when giving loves.
