Meet Slate
Hi! My name is Slate, just like the beautiful slate color of my fur! I’m a young boy who’s up to date on all my shots, neutered, good with dogs and cats, but a little shy around new people.
I came to live with my foster mom after being rescued by a kind lady at a veterinarian’s office. She loved me, but her house was full with kids and dogs, so she had to find someone else to give me a good home. That’s how my foster mom got lucky!
I must admit that I’m a little nervous at first around new people, but after spending some time getting used to my new foster home and my four new cat friends I’ve turned into quite the lover. Sometimes my foster mom thinks she should have named me Chatterbox instead of Slate because of my constant conversations with her.
I enjoy running around the house like a crazy boy, spending time in the fresh air on the enclosed porch, and playing with all the cat toys. It sure didn’t take me long to understand that yummy canned cat food is served first thing in the morning and again at dinner time. I’m right there when I hear that can being opened.
I would love to have a family, and maybe some kitty brothers or sisters, that would love me and treat me great. I’d like to live with young children, but my new family needs to know that it’s important for me to stop being scared and feel comfortable before I play with kids.
I recently tested positive for FIV+. This is a lifelong condition but kitties with it can lead long healthy lives, and it is hard to spread between cats. Kitties with FIV+ can live happily and safely with kitties that do not have FIV. You can learn more about FIV here: http://tenthlifecats.org/all-about-cats/health-and-care/fiv
Are you the right family for me?
