Poor Peanut

Do you want to give a cat that has never had and might never have a real home? Do you want to be a hero? Then, Peanut needs you!

Peanut and his two female friends (his harem actually)--Faylinn and Faerydale--were left to die during Hurricane Harvey. Fortunately, the original breeder went in and saved all three. The girls were much more social, but as is often the case with cats in the care of poor breeders (not the original breeder but the one who left him to die), he has not been well-socialized. He is very frightened of people. He is not aggressive; he is just frightened. He will need some serious time spent on rehabilitation to get him to trust people. When peanut first came to us he was completely unsocial. In fact, he hid from my foster for two months in her house and she could not find him :-). He came here and was equally unfriendly at first, but then one day he just decided that he loved me and he has been loving me ever since. He does occasionally forget that he is a social cat and I will start towards him and he will run, but those times are fewer and fewer. He is a precious boy, but he is Alpha in a lot of ways and he is actually arguing with my Alpha as to who should be in charge in my house :-).

He is a lovely cat that would do well in a quieter home. He would be fine with one or two other cats as long as they were not Alphas.

Also, though he is a purebred Blue Mink Ragdoll, he is short, plush-haired rather than long-haired. This is common when breeders are trying to breed in new colors :(.

Peanut just needs a home where he will be loved as he is and where the people with be patient and loving with him. He can be held, he can be cuddled, but his first instinct is to hide.

We are willing to waive his adoption fee TO THE RIGHT HOME and we will be determining the right home.

Sorry, we do not ship our cats or provide any transportation. All potential adopters should reside in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, or Louisiana. We will not adopt outside of those states.

Who We Are: We are a private rescue and privately funded. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER, BUT A RESCUE. A rescue is a PRIVATE HOME and not a public place to visit. Adopters must make appointments prior to visiting foster homes. All of our cats are spayed/neutered, FIV/FELV tested, wormed, de-fleaed, and vaccinated prior to adoption.

Adoption Process: We require all potential adopters to fill out an adoption application prior to setting up an appointment to visit with the cat(s). We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. If you call or email us, we will provide you with an application via email.

YOUNG CAT COMPANION POLICY: Unless otherwise indicated, all cats under the age of 3 must go into a home with another cat/kitten under the age of three or be adopted with a buddy. Ragdolls and Maine Coons are physically slow to mature, benefit greatly from the social interactions with another cat and often long for the companionship. Obviously, some young adults not raised around other cats or with more independent personalities may be exceptions to those rules, but that is up to the discretion of the Rescue to assess that need and is not negotiable. Special prices are made for buddy adoptions.
