Izzy was born around March 2013. We took her in July 2013 when she was still a kitten. She came from a farm in the Waterloo, Iowa area. She was adopted in Jan. 2014. Her owners recently moved and couldn't take her with them. So she is a WPR kittiy again and living in a foster home. She is up to date on shots, tested FeLV / FIV negative, and spayed.
Izzy will be 8 years old March 2021. Owners said they actually didn't interact with her very much. She spent a lot of time hiding. When we first got her back, she was so scared. Izzy would only hide under a blanket. Within 3 days, she was seeking us out for attention. Made my heart melt to have her trust us so quickly. My feeling is the previous adopters had dogs, maybe very active dogs that would chase them whenever Izzy would try to get attention. So she just learned to stay hidden and the adopters either didn't notice it was the dogs or didn't try very hard to help everyone adjust. So I am truly happy they moved because she is a total sweetheart and deserve a total cat loving home. So we want to find her a home with no dogs. She does ok with other cats if introduced properly and given time to adjust. She is ok with me holding her now. She does well with my cat loving daughters, ages 10 and 12. My daughters understand cats and know to let the cat come to you, do not chase them to pet them.
Izzy is very affectionate. She will lick your fingers. She will nuzzle her head all over your hand and your face. When you are petting her, she will roll to her side and encourage you to pet her all over. She purrs all the time. She is quiet and doesn't meow very often. She is a gentle soul and happy. She is not demanding of attention but welcomes it when you can give it to her. She still hides at times when she is unsure, but that is getting better every day. And she still loves to burrow under a blanket and stay there. It seems to be her safe place and what she is used to. So if you can't find her, look for the lump under a blanket!
Izzy has a super shy sister named Bellarina if anyone is interested in adopting both kitties but it is not required.
Will someone please adopt Izzy and give her a true forever home? $95.00 adoption fee.
WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com
All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $200 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
