Meet Guppie

Sometimes in rescue, we come across situations that are simultaneously heartbreaking and uplifting. Here is one of them.

Five-year-old Guppie was rescued as an abandoned stray after the person who meant the world to her put her on the street to fend for herself. As if that weren't bad enough, she had a golfball-sized cancerous tumor on her front leg. It was removed, but, after it regrew, our vet determined that her best chance of survival was amputation. Thus, Guppie has only three legs. She has made a full recovery and has actually taken all of this rather well. Naturally, she is less agile than other cats, but she still manages to get around rather well and, without too much difficulty, can hop onto a sofa, where she responds to petting with a hearty purr.

If you ever need an example of not letting hardships defeat you, you have one right here.

Guppie has been spayed, is negative for FIV and FeLV, and current on vaccinations. Her adopter will receive her medical records.

There is a simple adoption process and an adoption fee so we can continue to help cats in need. She's being fostered in Brookline.

Cats can live over 20 years, so give careful thought to the changes that are likely to occur in your life during that time. If you can and will commit to her and provide a safe, loving home for life, then respond to RoyCBarrows@gmail.com. Please include your phone number for a faster response and say a little about yourself and the home you would provide for her as we try to match people with the right cats.

In lieu of in-person adoptions, for the safety of all concerned, due to COVID 19, fosters are supplying short video clips of the cats to potential adopters and/or connecting via video app, and adopters are making their adoption decisions based on that. This has streamlined the adoption process and has been going very well.
