Meet GOLDIE!

MEET GOLDIE!

This rolly polly guy is named Goldie! Goldie came to the rescue after his owner surrendered him to animal control because he was “too old”. Although his previous owner stated that he was 20 years old, after a complete clean bill of health from the vet, she said that he was “at most” 14 years old. Goldie is a chonk, plain and simple, however he is working down his weight from a 22 pound start to 19 pounds at last check-up. As his name describes, Goldie is a classic orange short hair with a little white on the nose, neck, and toes. His nose is heart shaped, and his toe beans are pink.

Affectionately known as Big Cat, Goldie is a snuggle bug that shows his love through head butts and sandpaper kisses. It took a moment, but as he became more comfortable in his foster home, the more he would snuggle. Currently, he likes to sit all 19 pounds on Foster Mom’s neck, and sometimes even on his feline roommate, Chattycat. He sleeps most of the day, but will accompany you to the bathroom and to make dinner. He cleans himself well, but is a bit too big to always reach his back fur. He loves to be brushed and even tolerates waterless shampoo.

Although Goldie seemed to immediately take to his foster home, it was observed that he couldn’t quite get his bathrooming in the litterbox. After a few months of work, and daily litter cleaning, he pees in the box and poops right next to it. One theory for this behavior is general or separation anxiety, because the foster mom has been working longer days. Goldie would do best in a household with someone home most of the time to attend to his snuggles and snacks, and the box should not be an issue. He needs someone who is also willing to support him during his adjustment period in his new home. Otherwise, he is vocal and lets you know what he needs and when. But don’t let him talk you into too many treats, he still has a few pounds to lose!

Goldie is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love! He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is also FIV and FeLV negative. Interested in adopting him? Visit www.cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org!
