Health
Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered, special needs. Frieda is FIV+. Feline Immunodeficiency Virus is the cat version of the human HIV, a virus that over time depresses the immune system. Cats can live long, healthy lives with the proper care - regular vet checkups, and a balanced diet. The virus itself is not what harms the cat, it is secondary diseases that they catch due to the immune system being compromised. The virus is species specific - it can only be passed to cats, not dogs or humans. It also is not passed communicably through shared water and food or litter boxes. It is passed through deep bite wounds, so it it important to keep FIV+ cats indoors and away from any cats likely to pick a fight. It is a common misconception that FIV+ cats have to be completely separated from other cats, but they are fine to live among negative cats if they all get along and are not likely to fight, as well as with other positive cats. .

Meet Frieda

Frieda is a very sweet, cross eyed little girl. She is great with other cats. She is very social, and loves to play. Abandoned and alone Frieda had to fend for herself at approximately 8 weeks old and we don't know how long she was on her own.

Unfortunately, she is FIV+, but does not show any signs of the illness.

Frieda IS NOT currently at the shelter. She is in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please leave a message/text Sue 570-854-1909 or email: beaver.sue@gmail.com to schedule an appointment.

She tested negative for FeLV, litter box trained, vaccinated, dewormed and spayed.
