Meet Fawn

PLEASE NOTE: As of November 19, we have received a few applications on Fawn and are following up on them. Hopefully one turns out to be the right home and the right companions for her!

Pretty young Fawn arrived at the shelter on November 7 and now that she’s been spayed and vaccinated she’s ready to adorn your home! She is still a bit shy and defensive while in the sanctuary of her cage, but when we leave the room she cries to us to come back and give her attention, and she loves to chat with the other kittens in the room she’s in. Once we take her out of the cage she loves to be held tight and cuddled and forgets her fears. And she loves to be held not just by one volunteer, but by any volunteer, which just shows us that once she’s in a real home and no longer in a cage in the midst of the chaotic shelter, with all sorts of people coming and going, she will forget whatever fears she acquired fending for herself on the outside, and will embrace life as a companion cat. Because she is still a little apprehensive, a home without small children would be best, but she should be fine in a home with older children who know how to love a cat like her, especially ’tweens and teens. She’ll be fine living with other cats, but our guess is that she’d be anxious living with a dog, unless it’s a very gentle, subdued older dog that is accustomed to living with cats. Fawn will require a brief period in an isolation/introduction room in any new home so that she can adjust to the new surroundings and spend time bonding with her new people in her first days in the home.

Fawn is estimated to be between 6 and 12 months of age, is spayed, box-trained, current on vaccinations, tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia, and received de-wormers and flea treatments. Adoption fee is $50. Fee may be paid by credit card or money order, payable to “Town of Scituate.” Personal checks are accepted from R.I. residents only, and no cash is accepted.
