Brookie Brinda Domestic Short Hair Eagle Mountain, UT

Meet Brookie, she is a 3 year old Domestic Shorthair looking for her forever home via Celestial Zoo Pet Rescue. Brookie was turned over to the Davis County Animal Shelter by her owner for reasons I am unsure of. At the shelter Brookie was terrified. She was sweet with the staff but just hid in the back of her kennel and would not present well for adoption. I saw her cute little face and terrified eyes and said I would take her. Normally I give my new fosters a very slow transition into my home starting with them in the bathroom and then slowly letting them out a little bit at a time. Upon arriving to me Brookie was very sweet but very scared. For the next week and a half she hid anytime I came into the bathroom and would only really come out if I sat on the floor and coaxed her up to me. I put a camera in my bathroom to be able to check in on her to make sure she was coming out and eating etc. Pretty much anytime I closed the door she came out and would play and explore. This told me she just needed a little more time. At the 2 week mark I left the bathroom door open and gave her the choice to leave. It took her several days to explore. I have now had Brookie for a month and she has finally come out of her shell. She loves to run around and play and will frequently come up and ask for attention. She is cautious of my dogs but mostly just ignores them. I am unsure how she is with other cats and kids. But I do not think a home with young or loud children would be the best fit for her. Despite the fact she has become much more happy and socials Brookie is still very soft and timid. She will need a very slow and soft transition into a new home in order for her to succeed. It will be important for her to be able to make choices to explore on her own. Brookie loves affection and is silly to sit in your lap in order for you to give them. She is litter box trained, vaccinated, and will be microchipped at the time of adoption.
