Juniper & Poppy's Story

Meet Juniper & Poppy, the fun duo!

Juniper ("Junie") and Poppy came to Georgia Rat Rescue after their owner made the difficult decision to surrender them due to a change in living circumstances. Junie originally came into the home after a roommate's pet snake refused to eat her. Knowing that rats should never live alone, Poppy was adopted shortly afterward to be her companion. Although it was a heartbreaking decision, their owner wanted to do what was best for both girls and find them a home where they could continue to thrive. Both girls were originally purchased from Clay Hill Exotics in Gray, Georgia.

Junie is a Russian blue spot-masked dumbo, and Poppy is a black bareback standard-eared girl. Both are under a year of age, with Junie being slightly younger and smaller than Poppy.

Junie is an outgoing, people-oriented little rat who is always eager to interact and happily climbs onto anyone willing to say hello. Poppy is a bit more reserved at first, but she is never far behind Junie and has become increasingly confident. She enjoys gentle pets and has a sweet, calm personality. Together they have wonderful sweet temperaments and have adjusted remarkably well despite everything they've experienced and their backgrounds.

The girls arrived with a respiratory infection and completed treatment successfully. They have made a full recovery and are medically cleared for adoptio starting July 1st.

Junie and Poppy will be adopted together as a bonded pair. Given their young age and friendly, social personalities, they may also be good candidates for introductions into an existing group of female rats using proper introduction techniques.

They would make excellent companions for both first-time and experienced rat owners and would do well in a variety of homes, including families with respectful children.

Fostered in Alpharetta, GA

Adoption fee: $35 for the bonded pair

Apply to adopt at: http://www.garatrescue.weebly.com
