Hollabackatcha 50% off-In Foster's Story
Hollabackatcha ain't no holler-back pig... okay, maybe just a little-especially when snacks are involved! This adorable 8-month-old guinea pig has a name as unforgettable as his personality. After coming from a home with 11 guinea pigs, Hollabackatcha is still figuring out what life as a pampered pet looks like. Right now, he's a shy guy who prefers to take things slow. New people, new sounds, and new surroundings can feel a little overwhelming, so he's looking for a patient adopter who understands that the best friendships aren't rushed. Give him time, a cozy hidey spot, and maybe a few veggie bribes, and you just might earn your way into his inner circle. Hollabackatcha may also enjoy having another male guinea pig neighbor someday, but introductions would need to happen slowly, with separate spaces to start so everyone can get comfortable. If you're ready to help this sweet little guy come out of his shell and become the star he was clearly named to be, Hollabackatcha is ready for his next big encore!

The guinea pig adoption fee is $35 (for a single, pair or trio).

As most of our small animals are in fostercare, if you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about this pet, the best way to start the process is to call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us at springfield@dakinhumane.org. If you already have a cage, please send a picture of your cage when you inquire.

We've made a video about how to set up guinea pigs for success! Check it out, above with the photos. https://youtu.be/Z2AhKL79pL8?si=n-7tdvuRY4Ms5AGQ {attach this link to the video part of the animals account}

Guinea pigs are incredibly social animals who need to be kept in pairs/groups to thrive. If there are two names listed together (eg Peanut Butter w/Jelly), that means that the two animals are a bonded pair of friends, and must be adopted together.

Housing requirements: Guinea pigs need horizontal (ground) space.
- 1-2 guinea pigs: 6.5 square feet cage, but more is better
- Three guinea pigs: 8 square feet, but more is better, especially if they are boys
- Expect to spend around $100 on guinea pig housing and supplies to prepare for your new pet.
- The least expensive and largest way to house your pigs well is by creating a C & C cage, which is a DIY creation! This page has lots of links with how-to and ideas, copy and paste into a browser window; http://www.guineapigcages.com/howto.htm or Google "C&C guinea pig cages" to find more!

If you've never owned a Guinea Pig before, check out this site to learn more about these amazing little animals: https://www.guineadad.com/pages/guineadad-blogs
