Pomelo's Story
Pellets: 1x/day 1/4 cup Adult Oxbow Essentials (AM)
Hay: Unlimited mixed Timothy and Orchard Hay (All day)
Salad: 1x/day 1 cup spring mix, romaine lettuce, cilantro, parsley (PM)

Meet Pomelo! Pomelo came to us in April of 2026 from a local shelter. This small, gentle bunny is still learning that people can be kind and safe. He may be shy at first, but he's already making steady progress-he now accepts treats from a hand most of the time and is beginning to relax during quiet bonding moments. Pomelo does best in a calm, predictable environment where he can take things at his own pace. With patience and gentle handling, he's shown curiosity about the world around him, even when new sights and sounds make him a little unsure. Each day, he's growing more comfortable and starting to let his sweet personality shine through. Pomelo will thrive in a patient home that understands shy bunnies, and he may especially benefit from a confident bunny friend to help him continue building trust. With time, love, and consistency, this sensitive little guy has all the potential to blossom into a relaxed and happy companion.

Pomelo has a chronically swollen prepuce and surrounding area. He is currently being worked up by several veterinarians to determine underlying cause and treated with anti-inflammatory medication.

Neutered: Date unknown, prior to intake.

Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV) is a highly contagious and deadly disease that affects both wild and domestic rabbits. The virus is causing deaths in rabbits and hares native to North America and is spreading rapidly. In addition to detection of RHDV2 in wild cottontail rabbits and jackrabbits, RHDV2 has been confirmed in domestic rabbits on 50 premises, including a detection in a feral domestic rabbit. Please make sure to vaccinate your rabbits every year. For more information, please visit our website at: https://sandiegorabbits.org/education/rhdv
